JonBenét Ramsey's father says new handwriting analysis of rambling ransom note PROVES his wife is innocent and confirms pedophile who confessed to killing six-year-old pageant queen as her murderer

1 year ago 36

JonBenét Ramsey's father has confirmed that a new handwriting analysis proves his wife's innocence and points to convicted pedophile Gary Oliva as the real perpetrator who killed his six-year-old pageant queen daughter.

Oliva, currently serving time for child pornography offenses, has confessed to the crime in the past, as previously revealed exclusively by DailyMail.com.

Two handwriting experts, Mozelle Martin and Dawn McCarty, conducted independent analyses obtained by the US Sun, finding significant similarities between Oliva's writing and the ransom note of the killer.

The bombshell report revealed a score of 1.75 on a scale of 1 to 5 - with 1 being a definitive, identical match to the ransom note.

McCarty told the Sun, 'You can't make this up.... two separate sets of documents by two different authors that have the exact same spacing and all the consistent inconsistencies, how could that possibly be?'

JonBenét Ramsey's father has now confirmed that a handwriting analysis proves his wife's innocence and points to convicted pedophile Gary Oliva as the real perpetrator

Oliva, currently serving time for child pornography offenses, has confessed to the crime in the past, as previously revealed exclusively by Daily Mail

'There's too many things that are just hard to ignore,' she added. 'That doesn't mean to say he 100% wrote the ransom note, but it does call for a serious and more thorough investigation into Gary Oliva.'

In McCarty's analysis, she compared the shapes of individual letters, symbols, and words found in the ransom note and the samples of Oliva's writing.

Alternatively, Martin focused on slant variations, pressure points, spacing, letter sizing, and further characteristics present in both documents.

Both experts agreed on consistent similarities, for instance the present in lowercase A's found in both Oliva's writing and the killer's.

McCarty highlighted a pattern of flattened tops in the letter A over the traditionally more curved method as well as an overall similar shape.

'The contour of the oval segment of the lowercase a showed a likeness when overlapped, as did the inward lean of the stem of the a and the irregular top portion of the letter,' she told the Sun.

'There’s a notable indent on the stem of the a and both sets of samples lean inwards toward the left.'

Martin emphasized Oliva's A's resemble a backward number 6 that has a distinctive 'leftward tilt.'

The analysis focused on slant variations, pressure points, spacing, letter sizing, and further characteristics present in both documents.

She asserted that those letters matched the lowercase A's found in the ransom note.

The experts agreed that their independent handwriting analysis of the note and Oliva's letters determined that he 'most likely' authored the Ramsey ransom letter.

When the Sun reached John to share the bombshell finding, he reportedly called them 'very interesting.'

'That is very interesting,' he stated. 'When he was referred to us by the district attorney early on, they said he was a very interesting suspect.

'The district attorney told us, 'Look, I know the police won't follow up on this. Will you have your investigators look into it?'

'And we did and when it was described to me, all the circumstantial stuff, I said, 'Man, this is the guy!'

'My attorney told me not to jump to conclusions, but there was some circumstantial stuff that was very compelling.

'I don't know about him, but this is certainly encouraging.'

Despite skepticism about handwriting analysis, John Ramsey deems the findings encouraging, urging a more thorough investigation into Oliva's potential role in JonBenét's murder.

'And that wasn't true at all,' he said. 'Handwriting analysis is not an exact science, but I'm sure there are some credible experts out there.

'But this is an indicator for sure; this is encouraging information.'

Private investigator Jason Jensen commissioned the forensic handwriting analysis.

He had been independently investigating the murder of JonBenét Ramsey in recent years.

'The first thing I look for is similarities, so I start with the spacing, size, slant, margins, and things like that,' he told the Sun.

'And then I look for the anomalies or consistent inconsistencies; things that pop out or are very unique and different, and found so many consistent anomalies in both samples of Gary's letters and the ransom note.

'When you overlay some of those letters and words - words and letters from different eras of writing - and they line up so well, that's a loud pronouncement in my profession.'

In 2016, a handwriting expert who has examined the ransom note claimed it was very likely that the letter was written by the child beauty queen's mother Patsy.

'It's highly probable that she wrote the ransom note,' says handwriting expert Cina Wong in a preview for Friday night's episode of 20/20 on ABC, that will take a look back at the case 20 years after JonBenet's murder.

In 2019, Dailymail.com revealed the confession of the longtime suspect in the murder of JonBenét who finally admitted he killed the then six-year old beauty pageant queen

Oliva, a convicted pedophile who is currently serving a 10-year sentence in a Colorado prison for child pornography, admitted in letters obtained by DailyMailTV he killed her by accident

In 2016, a handwriting expert who has examined the ransom note claimed it was very likely that the letter was written by the child beauty queen's mother Patsy

Wong spent three weeks examining the note and comparing it to 100 examples of Patsy's handwriting back in 2000, and found multiple similarities between the two.

For instance, the ransom note had the letter 'A' written in four different variations, and Patsy wrote that same letter in those some four ways.

Oliva's previous convictions include trying to strangle his mother, sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl and possessing a stun gun

In total, Wong found over 200 similarities in the writing of the ransom note and the 100 samples of Patsy's penmanship.

Also appearing on Friday will be one of the jurors who voted to indict John and Patsy on charges related to the murder of their daughter after a year-long grand jury trial.

That man said that he believes he knows who murdered the child on December 26, 1996.

The six-year-old beauty pageant contestant was murdered on December 26, 1996, in her Boulder, Colorado home. The girl was bludgeoned and strangled - and several hours later, her mother called 911 to say her daughter was missing and a ransom note had been left behind. She was found after a search in the basement of the family's home.

Her death was ruled a homicide, but nobody was ever charged for her killing.

In 2021, Boulder police said they had interviewed more than 1,000 people in 19 different states as part of their ongoing investigation.

Just last month, 'several' new suspects were announced.

A police source told the Messenger: 'There are several people on the radar.

'New persons of interest. And we are seeing if any of them are the key to solving this case. Time will tell if we get the answers we need. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

'Suspects and witnesses can come from a variety of places. It's not just the DNA, it's what happens when you investigate a very difficult case.

'There are new people to look at, to hopefully figure out who killed JonBenét.'

None of the new people of interest have been named. When contacted by MailOnline.com, Boulder police referred to previous case updates.

On the day after Christmas in 1996, JonBenét was reported missing and then found dead in the basement of her family home in an upper-middle-class neighborhood in Boulder, Colorado.

Ramsey's parents - John and Patsy - were  long considered primary suspects in their daughter's murder and were not removed from the suspect list until 2008, two years after Patsy succumbed to ovarian cancer

The 1996 death of beauty pageant queen JonBenét Ramsey shocked the nation and Boulder Police received criticism for never bringing her murderer to justice. Pictured: Ramsey family, 1993

The coroner determined that the pageant girl's cause of death was 'asphyxia by strangulation associated with craniocerebral trauma,' meaning she had been choked and beaten to death. A garrote was found around her neck.

She was covered by a white blanket with a nylon cord around her neck, her wrists bound above her head and her mouth covered by duct tape.

There was no clear-cut evidence of rape, but police did not rule out sexual assault.

Unmatched DNA was found under the child's fingernails and on her clothes. A confusing ransom note demanding $118,000 was also found in the family's home.

In 2019, Dailymail.com revealed the confession of the longtime suspect in the murder of JonBenét who finally admitted he killed the then six-year old beauty pageant queen.

Oliva, a convicted pedophile who is currently serving a 10-year sentence in a Colorado prison for child pornography, admitted in letters obtained by DailyMailTV he killed her by accident.

Oliva, who was once jailed for trying to strangle his mother, wrote: 'I never loved anyone like I did JonBenét and yet I let her slip and her head bashed in half and I watched her die. It was an accident. Please believe me. She was not like the other kids.'

In another letter, Oliva wrote, 'JonBenét completely changed me and removed all evil from me. Just one look at her beautiful face, her glowing beautiful skin, and her divine God-body, I realized I was wrong to kill other kids. Yet by accident she died and it was my fault.'

The letters were sent to music publicist Michael Vail, a former high school classmate of Oliva's.

Vail has suspected Oliva's involvement in JonBenét's murder for 22 years but told DailyMailTV he thinks Oliva's written confession is the proof needed to finally get Oliva charged with the crime.

The incriminating letters from Oliva have now been presented to Boulder police.

Glammed-up shots of the pageant girl were circulated across US airwaves in the immediate aftermath of her death

Police spokesperson Laurie Ogden told DailyMailTV, 'The Boulder Police Department is aware of and has investigated Mr. Olivas’ potential involvement in this case.

'We have passed the additional information you provided onto investigators. We will not comment on any actions or the status of this investigation.'

Nobody has been charged with JonBenét's death since the six-year-old's lifeless body was discovered by her father John Ramsey in the basement of the family home in Boulder, Colorado on December 26, 1996.

Detectives believe she was murdered the night before, on Christmas Day, through either a blow to the head or strangulation with a garotte.

Oliva does not explain in the letters why he was at the Ramsey home that night but investigations have shown he was using an address just ten blocks away at the time JonBenét was murdered.

Sexual predator Oliva wrote the letters to Vail from his cell in Limon Correctional Facility, Colorado after being arrested in 2016 for possessing child pornography on his phone.

DailyMailTV has obtained a redacted police report for his 2016 arrest which shows Oliva also had hundreds of photos of JonBenét on his phone when it was seized.

He is currently due for parole in October 2020.

In an interview with DailyMailTV in 2019, then-55-year-old Michael Vail said: "My suspicions began when Gary called me late at night on December 26, 1996. He was sobbing and said, 'I hurt a little girl.'

Speaking from his home in Ventura, California, Vail said, 'I had known Gary from my time at high school and we had kept in touch. When he said he had hurt a little girl I tried to get more information out of him. The only other thing he told me was that he was in the Boulder, Colorado area.
