Justin Timberlake strikes plea deal and is handed $500 fine after Hamptons DWI arrest

Justin Timberlake will not face drunk driving charges after sealing a plea deal in his DWI case.

The singer, who was arrested in June in the Hamptons, will avoid a drunk driving charge after he agreed to plead guilty to a traffic violation on Tuesday, TMZ reported.

Timberlake, 43, will admit to Driving While Ability Impaired, instead of the original DWI charge, which has been dropped. 

He will pay a $300 to $500 fine as part of the agreement.

Timberlake's attorney Edward Burke Jr has repeatedly denied his client was drunk when he was arrested.

A judge will decide the exact amount of the fine on Friday when the deal is brought before the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court.

Timberlake will still have his New York drivers license suspended because he refused to take a Breathalyzer test when he was pulled over.

The pop star was arrested in the early hours of June 18 following a night out with friends in the exclusive Hamptons enclave of Sag Harbor.

He was pulled over after he ran a stop sign while behind the wheel of his BMW X7, police said.

Local officers reportedly followed the pop star and observed him swerving across the road, forcing cops to pull him over.

Once he had stopped, officers noted that the singer was 'glassy-eyed' with a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him, according to a police report.

'His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,' the court papers said. 

The father-of-two performed a field sobriety test and was asked to take a breathalyzer test, which he refused.

The 'Cry Me A River' hitmaker had reportedly been at the upmarket American Hotel prior to the incident.

Timberlake made a virtual appearance in a Sag Harbor courtroom where he was re-arraigned on a drunk driving charge stemming from his June 18 arrest

Timberlake told the officer he had one martini and was following some friends home, according to the documents.

A young Timberlake began performing as a Disney Mouseketeer, where his castmates included future girlfriend Britney Spears. He is now married to actress Jessica Biel and they share two sons.

Timberlake rose to fame in the behemoth boy band NSYNC, embarked on a solo recording career in 2002 and was one of pop’s most influential figures in the early 2000s.
