Kamala takes the crown: Harris celebrates being nominated by trolling Trump in arena that hosted the Republican convention... as Walz compares crowd sizes

Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated becoming the Democratic nominee by trolling former President Donald Trump in the arena that hosted last month's Republican National Convention.

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, attracted more than 15,000 supporters to Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum for a Tuesday night event held in conjunction with the Democratic National Convention.

It's traditionally unusual for a nominee to abandon the convention, but with a bit of TV magic, the ceremonial roll call vote concluded at Chicago's United Center and then the audience witnessed Harris walking onstage to a cheering crowd in Milwaukee.

Ahead of Harris' arrival, Walz made it very clear that the intention of the event was to get under Trump's skin.

'Not only do we have massive energy at our convention, we have a hell of a lot more energy where they held their convention,' Walz said. 'Oh that one guy's gonna be so sad tonight, so sad, so sad.'

Trump has always touted his 'yuge' crowds - and has pushed that Harris' don't compare.

He even falsely claimed that a photo of a crowd at an airport rally in Michigan was AI-generated.

Harris mostly let the crowd size speak for itself, though did make a quip after her supporters engaged in a raucous 'not going back' chant.

'Tim just looked at me and said, "we're not going back, I think,"' Harris said with a laugh.

During Walz's remarks, he reminded the audience of just what a whirlwind the last month has been.

'You know it was only a month ago that the Republican Party gathered for their convention right here on this very spot,' Walz noted.

'It doesn't sound like any of you watched it. But in case you didn't, after promising us a speech that was going to be about unity and promising that he was a changed man, Donald Trump subjected us to 92 minutes of ranting and ravity insanity,' the Minnesota governor said.

The Harris-Walz campaign said that more than 15,000 people were in attendance. The large rally comes after former President Donald Trump charged that one of Harris' crowds in Michigan was an AI-generated photo

Trump attended the RNC in the days following the July 13 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The Sunday after the RNC wrapped up, President Joe Biden dramatically dropped out of the presidential race, endorsing Harris on his way out.

'They were riding high, they were feeling good, this thing was over,' Walz recalled. 'Well trust me Milwaukee, a hell of a lot can happen in four weeks.'

Harris acknowledged one of those things at the top of her remarks - Biden's decision to step aside.

The president gave a very late keynote Monday night to conclude the first night of the Democratic National Convention.

He then flew to California for vacation, leaving the DNC fully in Harris' hands.

Walking onstage alongside Walz she said 'I also bring greetings from our incredible President Joe Biden.'

'Wasn't he terrific last night?' she asked the crowd. 'And I know we are deeply grateful for his lifetime of service to our nation.'

From there attendees burst into a 'thank you Joe!' chant.

A supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris is wheeled out of the crowd after suffering a medical emergency. Harris paused her program and made her supporters part so that the woman could get assistance

Harris was only on the jumbotrons in Chicago for the top of her Milwaukee speech, so she used the time to thank delegates for officially christening her the nominee - which they did with a number of celebrity appearances including a Lil Jon performance and cameos from Eva Longoria and The Wire's Wendell Pierce.

'Well, they have just completed their roll call,' Harris said. 'And they have nominated Coach Walz and me to be the next vice president and president of the United States.'

'We are so honored to be your nominees. This is a people powered campaign,' she boasted.

Later in her speech, she explained the meaning of that when she paused her remarks to call for assistance when a supporter was having a medical emergency.

'This is who we are. This is what we're about,' she said, after having the crowd part so medics could push a woman through in a wheelchair. 'Looking out for each other.'

She added this is 'truly understanding what love thy neighbor means.'
