Keith Olbermann breaks silence on Olivia Nuzzi fling amid RFK Jr. affair claims

2 hours ago 1

Former MSNBC star Keith Olbermann has broken his silence about his fling with journalist Olivia Nuzzi, revealing they even lived together when she was 21 and he was 55.

Olbermann admitted to their relationship in his Countdown podcast on Tuesday, saying he knew the story would emerge after 31-year-old Nuzzi's fling with Robert Kennedy Jr, 70, was uncovered.

'Eventually and inevitably this story will get around to me because long ago she and I lived together,' Olbermann said.

'We had dogs and tattoos and rings. And like all relationships, it was very nice at the start, then things happened, then we worked on it and it ended.'

Olbermann claimed the relationship lasted about three years and it ended mutually.

Nuzzi is on leave from New York Magazine after her fling with Robert Kennedy Jr was uncovered

He said he was speaking about it because The New York Post contacted him after Nuzzi was placed on leave for her tryst with Kennedy, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines.

'I am not the Nuzzi Nudes Network over here giving away free stories,' Olbermann said.

'Nearly all of the relationship was surprisingly mundane.'

Olbermann admitted Nuzzi 'did some weird things during the three years this lasted' but that he also 'did some weird things.'

He also claimed 'her parents were not the best role models' and 'sometimes she so missed the mark on the consequences of her actions.'

However, Olbermann added that, despite claims by RFK Jr, 'nothing suggests Olivia would have kept sending a guy nude photos unless he wanted them.'

Olbermann said he hadn't spoken to his ex since the break up and can't defend any of her journalistic choices.

But recalling a heart-warming moment, Olbermann said Nuzzi took care of him the day he got his 'beloved' dog Stevie, 'and she and I devoted our lives to Stevie,' he added.

'And Olivia largely taught me how to successfully be adopted by a dog and all dogs, and the anniversary of that is next Monday.'

He then ended by saying all the work he has done with animals and dogs is down to her and that she will always have his support if she needs it, joking that 'I don't wanna go out on a limb here but I'm beginning to suspect she likes old guys'.

The dalliance with Olbermann would have taken place while Nuzzi was interning with now-disgraced New York Congressman Anthony Weiner.

Nuzzi first gained notoriety after she wrote about her time in Weiner's office as he dealt with sex scandals that ended his political career.

It comes as Kennedy is reportedly considering suing Nuzzi over the pornographic content she sent to him

The never-married Olbermann - who has previously dated Senator Kyrsten Sinema, Fox News host Laura Ingraham and MSNBC star Katy Tur - criticized both Nuzzi and RFK Jr. on social media when the affair broke.

He claimed Kennedy's attempts to investigate Nuzzi are reprehensible, though he made no bones about how he felt what she did was wrong.

'This psychopath and serial woman chaser @RobertKennedyJr is talking about having @Olivianuzzi ARRESTED? I excuse none of her conduct but the dynamic just changed here.'

Olbermann continued: 'F*** him. He's an utterly irresponsible pile of s***. You participate in these sexts and they become a problem, you call her boss. Faster than 10 months later.'

It comes as Kennedy is reportedly considering suing Nuzzi over the pornographic content she sent to him.

Jessica Read Kraus, who writes the popular House Inhabit Substack, wrote Saturday that Kennedy is exploring his legal options after Nuzzi allegedly 'bombarded him with increasingly pornographic photos and videos.'

Nuzzi, Kraus reported, made a 'flirtatious remark during a phone conversation,' which led the independent candidate to block the prominent journalist.

In turn, Nuzzi reached out to Kennedy via email to have him unblock her number 'but later that night, she sent him a provocative picture, prompting him to block her again,' Kraus' account said.

Olbermann admitted Nuzzi 'did some weird things during the three years this lasted' but that he also 'did some weird things'

Security expert Gavin de Becker is investigating the situation to see if Kennedy can file a civil suit against Nuzzi, Kraus reported.

The Daily Beast reported Sunday that the sexting scandal came to light due to Kennedy boasting to friends that he had intimate photos of Nuzzi - and word made it back to New York's editor-in-chief David Haskell.

Sources close to Nuzzi, however, while not denying the tension between the two, told the New York Post she was not trying to hunt him down.

'It's absolutely untrue that she was the aggressor, but both parties were aware of how high pressure and high risk the circumstances were and for that reason their communication was very on and off,' the source said.

Nuzzi's editor-in-chief David Haskell then confronted Nuzzi about the affair 5:30pm on September 13 at the magazine's office in Manhattan, insiders told The Daily Beast.
