Kenny G locked in feud with ex wife over $40M Malibu mansion that he 'rented to Jeff Bezos for $600K per month'

Kenny G, and his ex-wife, Lyndie Benson, are reportedly locked in a contentious legal battle after he attempted to renegotiate the terms of their 2012 divorce.

After a failed attempt to lower his $40,000-per-month spousal support payments, the 67-year-old saxophonist's former spouse is seeking the emails over his six-figure rental arrangement for his $40 million Malibu mansion.

In a November 27 filing, obtained by People, Benson alleges the Grammy winner's oceanfront home was rented to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez for '$600,000 per month in an agreement beginning in April 2022.'

She claims to have 'made several requests' for Kenny to 'turn over all emails and documentation pertaining to the alleged lease with Bezos,' but says he refused due to 'privacy concerns' for his tenant.

Benson also accused her ex-husband of 'violating the terms of their divorce agreement by not selling the house, which would potentially earn her a profit, and instead holding onto it and making rental income.'

In the filing, Benson claims they agreed that '[i]n the event the Grayfox Property is ultimately sold for more than $40,000,000' that she 'shall receive 25% of any net profit defined as any sums remaining over and above $40,000,000.'

His lawyer, however, disagrees and argues 'there is no order . . . for Kenny to sell the Grayfox Property' in their divorce agreement and her 'potential payout only comes into play if he chooses to sell it.'

In March, ordered to pay his ex-wife's attorney fees - to the tune of $320,000 - after  seeking to lower his spousal support payments due to a drop in income.

The ruling came after Kenny filed legal documents demanding Benson agree to end their $40,000-a-month spousal support deal, claiming he can no longer afford it.

The request was initially filed in September 2021, but has dragged out in court due to complications in determining the 'true nature and extent' of his income, the new documents state.

The musician, born in Seattle as Kenneth Gorelick, was married to Benson for 21 years and, as the higher earner, had agreed to pay her the hefty monthly fee after their divorce in 2013.

But he has since asked to amend the agreement, citing a slump in his finances, despite court papers stating he earns a $600,000 per month in rental income alone.

'Even assuming the Court was to completely disregard all of the Petitioner's income from his music services, the Petitioner, by his own admission, states he receives $600,000 per month in rental income with very negligible expenses,' the papers state.

Feuding: After a failed attempt to lower his $40,000-per-month spousal support payments, the 67-year-old saxophonist's former is seeking the emails over his six-figure rental arrangement for his $40 million Malibu mansion (seen in 2019)

'In comparison to the income the Respondent [Benson] receives and funds she has access to, there can be no other finding but a significant disparity between the parties.'

With Kenny still earning between '5 to 10 times' more than his ex, he remains the higher earner who will be required to cover her legal costs.

The case had remained unresolved since 2021, prompting his attorneys to serve Benson this spring.

'Kenny, who is now 65 years old, has been paying spousal support to Lyndie for more than 9 years,' the original documents state.

'Kenny is a Grammy award winning saxophonist with a long successful career and more than 15 albums.

'However, as explained in the accompanying declaration of Kenny, for the last 2-3 years Kenny's touring opportunities, where he earns the most income, have not only declined but his percentage of earnings from the tours have also declined.

'Kenny's income has substantially declined steadily since 2018.'

His legal team - headed by high-profile divorce attorney Laura Wasser - did not specify how much the musician was worth.

At the time of his divorce, he was widely reported to be worth $50million.

He has paid his ex-wife $3.9 million since 2013, his lawyers noted.

'Lyndie is 57 years old, and, as far as Kenny knows, in good health' his lawyers wrote in their initial complaint.

'Lyndie has refused to become fully self-supporting for almost 10 years.

'Kenny should not have to continue to bear the burden of her refusal to do so.'

His lawyers note that she has launched a clothing company, Bleusalt, but refused to hand over the financial documentation related to the company.

In May 2022, Forbes interviewed her and described it as a 'thriving fashion label' of 'Malibu-inspired chic essentials.'

She told the magazine: 'I have always been obsessed with beautiful cashmere and head to toe outfits from Loro Piana and Bamford. Luxurious clothing that looked good on the beach for a bonfire and just as good when you were at Nobu for dinner.

'So once I found the fabric and perfected it for Bleusalt, the inspiration was already fully realized in my daily life and aesthetic.'

He is seeking to end the payments entirely, or substantially reduce them.

He is also asking the court to end the requirement that he maintain payments of a life support policy, which was guaranteed under the divorce.

Kenny G is the best-selling instrumental artist ever, and next month is performing in Las Vegas.

With 11 platinum albums and eight others that have reached multi-platinum status, Kenny G is one of the most successful artists, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

He appeared on the soundtrack for The SpongeBob Movie, and has collaborated with Kanye West and Katy Perry.
