While the result may have betrayed the occasion, Manchester City and Arsenal certainly drew enough viewers to shatter TV records in the United States.

NBC Sports reports that the match between the Cityzens and the Gunners this past Sunday is the most watched Premier League match in American history at 2.12million viewers.

The match had a total audience delivery of 2.59million when taking into account those who watched on Spanish-language station Telemundo.

Unfortunately, the match itself was a bit of a drab affair - with a 0-0 final score and neither team seeming truly threatening consistently.

But it was a gold mine for NBC as it became the first match in the US to surpass the two-million viewer mark - beating out the match between Liverpool and Arsenal from December 23 of 2023, which generated 1.96million.

Sunday's Man City-Arsenal match became the most watched PL match in American history

Unfortunately, the 2.59million total viewers saw a 0-0 draw that betrayed the occasion

Thanks to that scoreless affair, Liverpool remain top of the league on 67 points

In fact, the Gunners holds positions in the top three spots in the all-time viewership list - with their January 22, 2023 match against Manchester United sitting in third with 1.92million viewers.

It's a healthy sign that the league, and the sport, are growing in the United States - as more and more fans continue to tune in.

In fact, this season alone has seen five of the top six most watched matches in NBC Sports' history.

The network will hope to continue that success when it hits the road for 'Premier League Mornings Live'.

The show, which chooses a different American city each time, will be heading to Nashville, Tennessee this weekend.

Thanks to the draw, Liverpool remain atop the Premier League with nine games remaining in the season on 67 points. Arsenal are second on 65 and City are third on 64.
