Melania Trump demands answers to the mystery behind Donald's assassination attempt: 'There is definitely more to this story'

1 week ago 9

Melania Trump released a new video on Tuesday, questioning law enforcement's role in the assassination attempt on her husband Donald Trump

She indicated the full story wasn't being told and hinted at a conspiracy, saying there' s 'more to the story' and 'we need to uncover the truth.'

'The attempt to end my husband's life was a horrible, distressing experience,' she said in the 10 second video posted to her social media accounts.

'Now the silence around it feels heavy. I can't help but wonder why didn't law enforcement officials arrest shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth,' she added.

The video ends with a shot of her forthcoming memoir 'Melania.'

In the video, the former first lady, 54, is dressed in black, speaking with a black screen behind her. Ominous music plays in the background.

'There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth,' Melania Trump said of the assassination attempt on her husband Donald Trump

She released the video on the day of Donald Trump's debate with Democratic rival Kamala Harris and as House Republicans have formed a task force to investigate the July 13th attempt on the former president's life.

It's unclear what the assassination attempt has to do with Melania Trump's book, which is being published October 1st. She announced her memoir about two weeks after the assassination attempt and it's unclear if she'll address it in the book.

There have been several questions about the assassination attempt and how shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to climb to the roof of a building within the sight line of Trump.

There are also questions about what role the Secret Service played versus local law enforcement and if the two entities were in proper communication that day.

The gunman shot at Trump from about 150 yards away, on top of a roof that was near the outdoor rally but outside the venue, meaning he didn't go through the normal screening process that rally attendees did.

It's unclear why the Secret Service didn't secure that area and why it took officers so long to respond to the shooting. Trump was grazed by a bullet, causing his ear to bleed.

In the aftermath, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said that her agency failed in its mission to protect the former president.

'The Secret Service's solemn mission is to protect our nation's leaders. On July 13th, we failed,' she said.

She would later resign as head of the agency.

The assassination attempt on Donald Trump took place on July 13th at a rally in Pennsylvania

Melania Trump's memoir will be released on October 1st

Donald Trump has said the incident 'had an impact' on him. He described it in detail during his speech to the Republican National Committee.

Melania Trump was not at the rally in Butler, Pa., where the assassination attempt ocurred. She released a statement in the aftermath expressing her love for her husband.

Her book, simply titled 'Melania,' will be released on October 1st.  It is available for pre-order on Amazon for $30.

She is selling two editions: a $150 collector's edition featuring 256 pages in full color throughout, with each copy signed by the author. The memoir edition will be 304 pages and available for $40 with signed copies available for $75.

The former first lady has been the subject of many biographies and books but this is the first time she is telling her story.

It is unclear if she worked with a co-author and if she will go on a book tour.

After the Trumps left the White House in January 2021, Melania Trump maintained her low profile.

She has not been heavily involved in her husband's 2024 campaign for the White House.

She appeared at his campaign announcement and at the Republican National Convention, where, unlike other spouses of candidates, she opted not to address the delegates.

She has yet to appear at a campaign rally.

She also didn't attend the first presidential debate and has been careful to distance herself from her husband's legal troubles.

She did host two fundraisers for Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative LGBTQ group.

It's unclear if she'll attend Tuesday night's debate.
