A Michigan bride and groom have been charged after a groomsman was 'intentionally struck' by the new husband following a wedding day argument, police have said.

James Douglas Shirah, 22 and 21-year-old bride Savanah Nicole Collier were celebrating their wedding day on the evening of August 30 when the Flint Police Department responded to a 'pedestrian injury crash' on East Hamilton Avenue.

At the scene, officers found 29-year-old groomsman Terry Lewis Taylor suffering from severe wounds.

According to police, the man had attended the young couple's wedding as a groomsman but was 'involved in an argument', which resulted in him being 'intentionally struck by a large SUV'.

The vehicle was going fast and was being 'driven by the groom' police have said.

The groom, James Douglas Shirah, 22, stands accused of one count of murder in the second degree, according to Genesee County court records

The bride, Savanah Nicole Collier, 21, has been charged with one count of accessory to a felony

The man was rushed to the nearby Hurley Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Shirah and Collier were arrested earlier this week.

The groom has been charged with one count of murder in the second degree, while his wife has been charged with one count of accessory, according to court records.

However, police have not elaborated on their theory about the bride's alleged culpability in the incident.

Taylor leaves behind his own bride-to-be, who is pregnant, as well as their three young children.

A GoFundMe was started by his fiance to cover the cost of his funeral.

The fundraiser says: 'My fiance was murdered on August 30th 2024. He was only 29 years old. He leaves behind three children and I am currently pregnant.

'We (myself and his family) are trying to give him the burial that he wanted and deserves.

'He was an amazing person, so many people love him. This was completely unexpected and a lot of lives are effected by this loss. If anyone could donate anything helps even if it's only a dollar or two.'

According to his obituary, Taylor enjoyed fishing, music and spending time with his family and friends.
