A Maryland woman was driving nearly 100 mph when she slammed into another car killing her toddler daughter - and now the mom faces a half-century behind bars.
Danshell Evon, 38, was driving when her 2015 Kia Optima hit a 1997 Ford F-150 on Connecticut Avenue near Atherton Drive in Silver Spring on May 12, 2022.
Both people inside the Ford experienced non-life-threatening injuries, along with Evon and her two 13-year-old children.
Evon's three-year-old daughter, Dreamie Dior Jackson, died in the crash because she was improperly secured in a backless booster seat, reported WJLA.
'At the speeds the defendant was traveling, she wasn't driving a car, she was steering a missile down the road in the middle of rush hour,' said State's Attorney John McCarthy.
Danshell Evon, 38, was found guilty of manslaughter for driving 98mph and causing a crash that killed her daughter in May 2022

Nearly six months after the crash, Evon was indicted on several charges, including manslaughter by vehicle, child abuse, child neglect and second-degree assault.
Court documents revealed she was driving 98 miles per hour in the seconds leading up to the crash.
NBC Washington reported Montgomery County had previously lowered the speed limit from 45 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour in that area.
After a four-day trial, a judge found Evon guilty of gross negligent manslaughter, four counts of second-degree assault and neglect of a minor.
Her sentencing is scheduled on August 9 where she faces a maximum penalty of 55 years in prison.
In her obituary, Dreamie Dior was described as a loving, studious, sharp, smart and solitary child.
Shortly after the crash that killed her daughter, Evon said: '[Dreamie] loved makeup, playing with her dolls, drawing art and going to her gymnastics classes.'
'She had a huge heart, and her personality was contagious. She was a very special soul.'
