A morbid video of OJ Simpson pretending to stab Ruby Wax in a 1998 BBC interview has resurfaced in the wake of his death.

The TV personality, 70, called the ex-NFL star, who was found liable for stabbing to death his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, 'the most complicated character on earth.'

'After we finished filming, Simpson said to me that he has a surprise for me - and I genuinely was surprised,' Wax said. 'I think it was his idea of a joke.'

In a bizarre video clip, Simpson pretends to stab Wax with a banana while making a screeching noise as he grinned at the camera.

Simpson's questionable joke came as she opened her hotel door to him, but the comedian claimed that he was initially looking for a knife.

Wax, 70, is a British-American actress, comedian and television personality who interviewed Simpson, who she has called 'the most complicated character on earth,' 25 years ago

The morbid video re-surfaced on Thursday, as the world found out that the ex-football star and murder suspect had died after a short battle with prostate cancer

Wax described their 1998 interview over 20 years later as a 'psychological midfield' and said the strange stabbing joke came after the interview. 'Afterwards, I did a piece to camera saying "I've been fixed up and I don't know who my date is going to be" and I'd open to door and it would be him.

'But when he was out there, all the trays were out there and he was looking for a knife, to fool me when the door was open but there was no knife so he grabbed a banana.'

Wax had met with Simpson after he was famously acquitted in 1994 of the murder of his former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

The now 70-year-old television personality alleges that Simpson phoned her up on April 1st and said: 'I killed her, April Fools!'

She recalled their first meeting, claiming he told her his favorite poem was one about Lizzie Borden, an American woman tried and acquitted of the axe murders of her father and stepmother in 1892.

'The first night we went out, we went out with his sister, and all these women came to the table and said "Can we meet afterwards". They came every night and they want to sleep with a criminal.

Wax said she thought she'd be able to get Simpson to admit to the fatal stabbings in 1995 - and even suggested he might want her to bust him for the crime.

'I think he wanted me to bust him, he said out of nowhere "Want to know what my favorite poem is" and and he went into "Lizzie Borden took an axe, And gave her mother forty whacks; When she saw what she had done, She gave her father forty-one."

'I thought I could bust him', said Ruby. '[I thought] he'd say on air "Yes he did it", and I'd get him in jail. So I was being public defender.'

The notorious double murder suspect passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.

Simpson became one of the most infamous figures in America after he was charged with the 1994 murders.

An X post shared on his official account by his family said: 'On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.

'He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. - The Simpson Family.'
