National Cheeseburger Day 2024 deals from Burger King to McDonald's - where customers can get burgers for as little as 1 cent

The cheeseburger is an American staple, so much so that it has its own designated day of celebration.

National Cheeseburger Day falls on September 18, and many fast food restaurants are offering special deals to mark the occasion. 

McDonald's fans can score a double cheeseburger for just 50 cents on Wednesday if they order exclusively through the app.

Burger King is giving away a free cheeseburger with any purchase of $1 or more for members of its Royal Perks loyalty program. 

Wendy's, meanwhile, is upping the ante - offering a bacon cheeseburger for just 1 cent to customers who download the app and make any purchase from Wednesday until Sunday, September 22. 

Other major fast food chains and burger joints are also offering special deals.

Members of the Blazin' Rewards loyalty program at Buffalo Wild Wings can buy one burger and get another free on September 18.

The offering is available for customers dining in at a restaurant, and for takeout and delivery.

Applebee's is also getting in on the action, and offering customers one of its three classic burgers with classic fries for $8.99. 

Fast food fans can choose between the classic burger, classic cheeseburger and the classic bacon cheeseburger. 

The deal at Dairy Queen, which runs Wednesday through Sunday, is a free double original cheeseburger signature stackburger for anyone who spends more than $1.

The burger features two beef patties, Sharp American cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard.

Sonic fans can get the quarter pound double cheeseburger for $1.99, or a sonic smasher for $7.

The sonic smasher features two Angus beef patties layered with two slices of melty American cheese, Smasher sauce, crinkle-cut pickles and diced onions. 

But Sonic does not need a special occasion to offer deals on cheeseburgers. The chain also gives away half-price cheeseburgers after 5pm every Tuesday.

Smashburger is offering $5 classic singles in-store, online or on the app on National Cheeseburger Day.

The chain is also giving away a 50 percent off any burger or sandwich coupon with any purchase on Wednesday.  

This will apply to future visits from September 19 to October 17.

Denny's rewards members can also get 20 percent off any burger on Wednesday.
