NBA player Cameron Payne has reportedly been arrested in Arizona after cops said he gave them a false report.

The guard was arrested on Friday morning, after the Scottsdale Police Department were called to look into a disturbance at about 2:44am and 'came into contact' with Payne and another person, according to TMZ.

TMZ says its unclear exactly what led to Payne's arrest, but he would soon be charged with refusal to provide a truthful name and one count of false report to law enforcement.


Payne was reportedly released from custody not long after his arrest.

Before he was arrested, Payne appeared to hit the golf course on Thursday afternoon.

He posted an Instagram story of himself in a golf cart on a course, captioning the video, 'Reps remove doubt.' 

The 29-year-old most recently played for the Sixers after being traded to the team from the Bucks in Milwaukee.

Payne, currently an unrestricted free agent, is entering his tenth NBA season. 

Since being drafted in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft, he's suited up for a bevvy of teams, including the Thunder, Bulls and Suns.

Phoenix was his longest stint as he spent parts of four seasons there. 

Payne played a pivotal role in the Suns' 2020-21 NBA Finals team, as he scored 9.3 points per game across 22 postseason appearances that year. 

Last season he played in a combined 78 regular season games for Milwaukee and Philadelphia.
