An OB-GYN has revealed the three things that she would never do - and why peeing in the shower is at the top of the list.
The information was shared in a new TikTok video made by Houston-based Dr. Emma Qureshey, which has already reached over 100,00 views.
Dr. Qureshey has nearly a decade of experience, as she graduated from The University of South Florida College of Medicine in 2015, according to her bio.
She started off the clip by explaining why you should never pee in the shower, or pee standing up, even thought it may be tempting at times.
'I know there are people out there promoting this because it saves 5,000 gallons of water a year or something like that, and they tell you it saves time, and all of these things,' the doctor began.
Houston-based OB-GYN Dr. Emma Qureshey has revealed the three things that she would never do - including peeing in the shower
'But it is one, not very hygienic, but more important than that, it will destroy your pelvic floor,' she revealed about peeing in the shower, and peeing standing up
'But it is one, not very hygienic, but more important than that, it will destroy your pelvic floor,' she revealed.
The pelvic floor is the group of muscles that form a 'sling' or a 'hammock' in the pelvic area, per The National Institute of Child Health and Development - so if you pee in the shower, it could weaken those muscles.
The expert added that peeing in the shower can even create mental associations with running water - meaning that if you hear running water, you might think you need to run to the bathroom.
The next tip on her list of no-no's was putting things in the vagina in order to treat infection if they weren't prescribed to you by a medical professional.
'I'm talking about things like garlic cloves, yogurt, other stuff like that that I don't even want to know about,' Qureshey said.
'Those things are not going to treat whatever infection you're dealing with, and they might make things worse,' she warned viewers.
Qureshey recommended that people talk to their doctor before 'shoving' anything up in their nether regions.
Lastly, the OB-GYN said that she would never avoid going to the doctor for a symptom out of 'embarrassment.'
The next tip on her list of no-no's was putting things up places in order to treat infection if they weren't prescribed to you by a medical professional
'I would never ignore any worrisome symptoms or bothersome symptoms out of embarrassment,' she shared.
'I promise you, we have seen it all, heard it all, smelled it all, all of the things, we don't care, we're not judging, talk to your doctor,' the expert urged.
The information comes after another OB-GYN, Dr. Jennifer Lincoln, revealed why it's physically impossible for women's bodies to 'bounce back' immediately after giving birth.
In a viral clip, which posted last year, Dr. Jennifer advised women to block out the haters who push them to try to fit in their 'pre-pregnancy jeans in just a few weeks.'
She showed an example of what a women's uterus looked like before pregnancy, and what it looked like after - a sizable difference.
'Let's get rid of toxic bounce back culture, which thinks we are supposed to get back to this in just a few weeks,' the doctor said at the time.
