Personal trainer Lauren Hurst, who is known for whipping even the oldest exercisers into shape, has revealed her top fitness hack for seniors to stay fit as they age

The author of the book North Forty, which helps inspire older fitness fanatics, said that 'strength training will help you to have a better quality of life.'

She explained that muscle mass begins to decline once you are in your 30s and 40s and so it's crucial that you lift weights to help keep yourself fit.

And while she advised you lift weights, she noted that it's even more important you have good form when doing so.

The exercise enthusiast recommended that seniors work with a personal trainer to ensure they are boosting their muscles and keeping themselves safe.

In addition to working with a personal trainer to help correct your form, Lauren advised seniors use heavier weights when possible.

She explained that small weights won't do much - adding that while you shouldn't burn yourself out, it's crucial to challenge yourself.

The personal trainer told the outlet: 'You don't need to be Superman but if you're using weights that weigh nothing, it's not going to do a lot.'

Lastly, Lauren suggested that seniors focus on burning out every muscle group.

She explained that by working out even the small muscles, you will begin to get more toned and stronger quicker.

Lauren noted that workout splits, which are designed to help you burn various muscle groups, are a great way to tone your entire body quickly.

In the past, another personal trainer told the outlet how many reps people should do to achieve their fitness goals.

Luke Worthington noted that to build muscle, you need to do around 12 to 15 reps of each exercise.
