It was an emotional scene in a Queens courtroom Tuesday as over 100 police officers showed up in solidarity for slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller as a suspect in his killing was arraigned.

Diller was a 31-year-old New York Police Department officer who was allegedly shot and killed by suspect Guy Rivera, 34, in late March.

His memorial became a scene for politicians of various stripes - former President Donald Trump was greeted warmly at his wake, while mourners applauded as New York's Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul was asked to leave.

On Tuesday, Lindy Jones, 41, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, was allegedly sitting in the driver's seat when Guy Rivera killed Diller.

Jones, who once told cops 'My name is Lindy Jones Jr. and I shoot people' - pleaded not guilty as Diller's fellow officers looked on in the courtroom.

He had 14 prior arrests, including a conviction for attempted murder and robbery in 2003 that saw him serve 10 years behind bars.

Jones had been arrested on gun charges last April but was released on a $75,000 bail that was set to bring him back to court Monday.

Following Jones' April arrest, where he was caught with a loaded firearm, Mayor Eric Adams said that he was a prime example of a 'recidivist problem' - meaning a small number of perpetrators committing a large number of crimes.

'Same bad people doing bad things to good people,' Adams added.

He was charged with robbery, assault and attempted murder in 2001 for allegedly shooting a man three times, according to the New York Post

Jones - who is rumored to go by the nickname 'Killa' - reportedly told police he did not know Rivera

Rivera was already indicted on charges of murder in the first and second degrees, attempted murder in the first and second degrees, four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree for the homicide.

'There is no higher priority for my office than taking illegal guns off our streets to prevent the devastation they cause, whether it is the shooting of a child playing in a school yard or an NYPD officer doing his job to keep us safe,' Queens DA Melinda Katz said in a statement.

Police also showed up in big numbers when Jones was brought into criminal court on March 27

Suspect Guy Rivera was shot at the scene by Officer Diller's colleague and taken hospital, had 21 prior arrests and previously served five years in prison on drug charges before being paroled in 2021

'We remain steadfast in our commitment to achieve that goal and to seek justice for Detective Diller and his loved ones.'

Rivera's next court appearance is scheduled for May 7, while Jones was ordered to return to court on June 12.

Diller, who was the father of a one-year-old boy, was allegedly shot dead by Rivera during a traffic stop on Monday in the passenger seat of the car Jones was driving.

The death has sparked a huge response from the police community, with NYPD Commissioner Edward Cavan branding him a 'hero.'

Officials say that Jones was behind the wheel of a car that was parked illegally in front of a bus lane, leading Diller and his partner to approach them.

After Rivera allegedly refused to roll down his window or show his hands, he allegedly opened fire on Diller, hitting the young officer under his bullet proof vest.

Diller's partner returned fire and both Rivera and Diller were rushed to hospital. The officer was later pronounced dead.

Prosecutors said a search warrant was issued on the vehicle in the shooting, which uncovered a second firearm.

Investigators believe Jones and Rivera had been casing out a T-Mobile store before the shooting.

Horrific surveillance footage captured the moment the young NYPD cop writhed in agony on the streets of New York after being shot.

Three loud gunshots can be heard ringing out as bystanders flee for safety.

Despite being shot, Diller heroically moved the gun away from the shooter after it was dropped on the ground, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said during a press briefing.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams branded the shooting a 'senseless act of violence' at a press conference outside Jamaica Hospital.

'I can't not say it any clearer: It is the good guys against the bad guys, and these bad guys are violent,' Adams, a former cop, added.

Following Rivera's arrest, it emerged that he also has a lengthy criminal history including first degree robbery, illegal gun possession and assaults.

He had 21 prior arrests and previously served five years in prison on drug charges before being paroled in 2021.

Rivera had also been incarcerated from 2011 to 2014 over a first-degree assault charge.

Former president Donald Trump attended the officer's wake, where he slammed Joe Biden for not attending even though he was only half an hour away.

Trump also accused his Democrat rival of not backing the police because his liberal supporters 'won't let him'.

The governor was scheduled to pay her respects on the second day of viewings for Diller.

After Hochul arrived at the funeral home around 1.45 pm on Friday, a person from the crowd shouted, 'Get her outta here,' law enforcement sources told the Post.

In a video posted to social media by Fox News, Hochul can seen being confronted by an unknown man outside the Long Island funeral home and given what appears to be a stern talking to, though the conversation isn't audible, as he gesticulates at her.

Hochul nods, says a few words and turns around to leave, at which point someone looking on can be heard audibly applauding. The video then cuts to her being driven away in a black SUV.
