A former NASCAR driver was attacked with a brutal kick to the head over the weekend in Ohio.

Matt Tifft, a former NASCAR Cup Series racer, is currently competing in the ASA STARS National Tour and was on track in Toledo, Ohio.

Tifft got into a confrontation with a fellow driver - who he says took out a number of cars over the race, including his own.

He was knocked out of the race by seventh-place finisher Billy VanMeter and Even Shotko.

When he went to go confront the opposing team by himself, he was taken to the ground by his opponents - with one heard saying, 'Get outta here, you came to the wrong place.

After being brought to the ground, Tifft was met with a swift kick to the face by an unidentified person on the VanMeter team.

Tifft was then brought to his feet, while his face was left bloodied as he continued talking to the other drivers saying, 'Just don't take everybody out man.'

The whole encounter was caught on video and then posted to Tifft's Twitter account.

He wrote, 'Had a great race until getting wrecked by someone who went on to take out 3 more cars. Can’t stand people with no respect for others' equipment.

'Always a good sign when several teams thank you after confronting them. Hopefully the last time getting "VanMetered."'

Tifft spent time in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2019 - where he took part in 32 races. He's also logged time in the feeder Xfinity Series and the Craftsman Truck Series.

He stepped away from NASCAR after being diagnosed with epilepsy - suffering from a seizure at a race in the 2019 season at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia.

With racing out of the question, Tifft bought an ownership stake in the Live Fast Motorsports team - where he became the youngest Cup Series owner ever at the age of just 24.
