Stephen A. Smith did not hold back after videos of Tyreek Hill getting hit and held to the ground during an arrest went viral on Sunday.

Hill was a block away from Hard Rock Stadium, on his way to the Dolphins' season opener against the Jaguars, when he was pulled over and handcuffed with his face down.

After a clip of a police officer seemingly charging at Hill and hitting him during his detainment circulated, Smith called foul on the officers using excessive force during what was labeled a 'minor' traffic offense. He also compared it to golf star Scottie Scheffler's arrest ahead of the PGA Championship earlier this year.

'This story with the police involving @cheetah ain’t going away damnit,' Smith wrote. 'Traffic violation? Fine. But WTH was he face down in cuffs, stood up, then the other officer runs over behind him and forces him to the ground again??? Hell No! Excessive! Wrong! Again, this ain’t going away.'

Furthermore, Smith posted a clip of the arrest and doubled down on his stance.

'Look for yourself,' Smith wrote. 'This is b.s. Totally unnecessary. And btw…., I know the Scottie Scheffler incident was in Georgia — not Florida — and he was arrested, detained, booked.

'I also know we don’t know all the details, blah….blah…..blah! But he wasn’t faced down on the ground in cuffs? Then forcibly sat down again by officers a second time. Nah! This story isn’t going away — and it doesn’t need to.'

On May 17, Scheffler was detained on his way to Valhalla to make his tee time during the PGA Championship. Fans woke up in the morning to pictures of him in handcuffs and a mugshot.

After the unexpected turn, Scheffler walked into a loud reception and finished the day near the top of the leaderboard.

While the manner of their arrests greatly contrasts, Hill was released shortly after and took the field for the game against Jacksonville.

'We are aware of the recent detainment of Miami Dolphins player Tyreek Hill by Miami-Dade Police Department officers,' Miami Dade PD director Stephanie V. Daniels told DailyMail.com.

'I have requested an immediate review of all details surrounding the incident, and we are also reviewing available body camera footage. We will provide updates as further information becomes available.'

After the arrest, the Dolphins confirmed that he was safe and noted how several teammates stepped in to de-escalate the situation after seeing him in handcuffs.

The team's statement read: 'This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police. He has since been released.

Hill was released shortly after and is expected to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars

'Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support.

'Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game.'

Despite the release, Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, described the incident as 'heartbreaking' and the police's actions 'completely unnecessary. Rosenhaus also revealed that their camp will take legal action.

'I’m very distraught about it,' he told Darlington on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown. 'We’re going to have to look into it.'
