Taylor Swift leads the best dressed bombshells on red carpet alongside Sabrina Carpenter and Katy Perry at 2024 MTV VMAs

2 months ago 10

The biggest stars in music were ready to rock and roll as they made their way to the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York on Wednesday night.

Taylor Swift opted for tartan in her very Reputation coded look - consisting of a yellow and black plaid top half and open skirt - revealing black hot shorts that matched her thigh-high boots and lace up gloves.

Taylor, 34, is wearing Dior Resort 2025, with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry including 30 carats pear shaped canary yellow diamond earrings surrounded by black jade.

Sabrina Carpenter, 25, channeled Marilyn Monroe in her shimmering sequin silver gown, adding touseled locks and red lipstick on her pout, as she led the best dressed on the VMAs red carpet.

Sabrina is wearing vintage Bob Mackie from his 1991 collection - the same dress that Madonna wore to the 1991 Academy Awards - while she was channeling Marilyn as well.

Katy Perry flashed her flat midriff in a shredded white number, rocking wet looking locks and sultry makeup.

Taylor looked incredible in the edgy look, showcasing her statuesque frame.

The Grammy award winning singer - who is in a relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce - had all eyes on her in the plaid dress with the open center - revealing her tiny thigh-grazing shorts beneath.

The corset style dress put her cleavage on full display; the star added lace up gloves that went up to her shoulders, finishing up the look with boots.

Sabrina dazzled in the strapless number as she posed up a storm on the red carpet.

The vintage Bob Mackie gown from 1991 was sourced from Tab Vintage, according to WWD.

Madonna wore the gown in 1991 for the Academy Awards in homage to Marilyn Monroe.

Madonna also wore it for the cover of Vanity Fair in 1991 prior to the awards show, per W Magazine.

Sabrina's red carpet appearance comes after her album Short n' Sweet - which she released on August 23rd - debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 charts.

The former Disney star's new album has entered week two at number one, Billboard revealed days prior to the VMAs.

Halsey stood out in her red and black cheetah printed frock, which perfectly complimented her fire engine red locks.

The artist showcased her tattoos in the sleeveless sequin accented number.

Chappell Roan stood out on the red carpet - rocking a medieval sword as an accessory.

Chappell paired the sheer frock with a striking green medieval style cape.

The Good Luck, Babe! singer flashed her underwear in the sheer number, as well as her armor-style boots beneath and her claw-style nails.

Chappell appeared to have her own knight, who rocked a medieval look like her; the singer passed her sword to him.

Karol G smoldered in a striking flame hued bodycon maxi dress for the awards show.

The stunning artist posed in the yellow, orange and white number, rocking red glossy lips and her blonde hair sleek and center parted around her.

This year's recipient of the legendary Video Vanguard Award will be Katy Perry.

'Katy is a musical powerhouse and true pop culture icon,' said Bruce Gillmer, chief content officer of music at Paramount+ and president of music, music talent, programming and events at Paramount in a statement, according to AP.

'With her game changing creative vision, she has become a global phenomenon and taken over the world’s biggest stages,' added Gillmer.

Past winners of the Video Vanguard Award include David Bowie, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and Pink.

The award comes as Perry prepares to release her upcoming seventh studio album 143. Her comeback single from the album, Woman's World, flopped in the charts following its release over the summer.

As for accolades, Taylor Swift is the most-nominated artist at the event with an impressive 10 nods to her name.

The hitmaker, 34, has the chance to make history as she could become the first artist to win Video Of The Year five times. She already holds the record for most Video of the Year victories with four trophies under her name.

Also up for six nominations are Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem.

Like Megan Thee Stallion, SZA is up for five nominations.

Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo, Teddy Swims, and Blackpink member Lisa all tied with four nods each.
