The Tide will roll as the ‘Noles stay home. That’s the decision made by the College Football Playoff selection committee on Sunday to select the four best teams to fight for a national championship.
The Alabama Crimson Tide made a strong case to be included after knocking off former No. 1 team Georgia in the SEC Championship game and the committee decided their victory meant more than finishing the season perfect.
In doing so, the committee broke their precedent - deciding for the first time in the ten-year history of the CFP to leave out an undefeated Power Five conference champion in the Florida State Seminoles.
Despite going 13-0, the CFP committee decided that the loss of FSU quarterback Jordan Travis was enough for Alabama to hop the Seminoles into the conversation for a national title.
'They're a different team than they were before,' CFP committee chair Boo Corrigan told ESPN.
Alabama joins Michigan, Washington, and Texas in the fight for a championship this winter.
