The TRUTH behind Barbie Ferreira's incredible weight loss - as fans speculate if Euphoria star turned to Ozempic to 'reinvent' herself

Barbie Ferreira has lost weight in a desperate attempt to 'reinvent' herself and 'revitalize' her Hollywood career after work started 'drying up' when she quit Euphoria, insiders have claimed.

The 27-year-old actress shocked fans on Monday after she showed off her smaller frame in a series of sizzling photos on Instagram, prompting curious fans to speculate whether she had used Ozempic. 

While it remains unclear as to whether she turned to the popular weight loss drug, sources close to the star have claimed that she ultimately slimmed down to show the world that she is determined to succeed in the industry.

'Since she quit Euphoria, the opportunities have been drying up for Barbie and she knew that a reinvention was necessary to maintain longevity,' an insider told DailyMail.com exclusively.

'In order to get roles in Hollywood, you've got to look the part and as shallow as that sounds, it is, unfortunately, true.

'She lost the weight to revitalize her career and better highlight her talents. She has such a strong drive to succeed in the industry and is incredibly talented.

'Doing this spread and showing off her new body was a way of saying, "Hey this is me now and I am ready to work."

'She wants to be able to play sexy parts too and will do what it takes to succeed. Ozempic can offer a really easy way to achieve this.'

A second source added: 'She actually wasn't in Euphoria that much, but the time she was on set it was clear that her image was important to her.

'Whether she did Ozempic or lost weight by other means, she is loving all the attention from it. It wouldn't surprise anyone if it was Ozempic though.'

Barbie shared the jaw-dropping pictures of her dramatic weight loss with her 5 million followers on Monday.

In one of the stunning photos the model went make-up free while wearing a low-cut cream negligee.

In another photo she showed off her small waist in a black leather halter neck top which showed off her taught midriff. 

The Instagram post followed a series of snaps from last month in which she looked almost unrecognizable in a chocolate brown dress.

Fans congratulated her on the alluring photos, but some were quick to question whether she was taking Ozempic, the diabetes drug that helps people lose weight.

One follower joked: 'Rich ppl have ozempic and we have body positivity.'

'She's going back to her tumblr girl era,' noted another.

A third got angry, writing: 'This is HER body, HER decisions, too bad some people learned to accept themselves through identifying, relating and comparing themselves to her, it is NOT her responsibility.'

Barbie played high-schooler Kat in 16 episodes of Euphoria from 2019 until 2022 when she announced on Instagram that she was bowing out. Her departure came amid rumors of on-set tensions between her and show creator Sam Levinson.

She went on to appear in an episode of Robot Chicken in 2022 and then landed the role of Nessie in the movie Nope. Earlier this year she starred in comedy drama film Bob Trevino Likes It.

She was recently announced as the lead in upcoming rom-com Mile End Kicks. 

Celebrities have been turning to Ozempic in recent years to help shed the pounds.

In March, reality star Scott Disick showed off his drastic weight loss after using Mounjaro, another weight loss drug, to get rid of his 'dad bod,' while Kelly Clarkson recently admitted to using a drug to slim down. 

Rebel Wilson lost 80lb in four years to reach her goal weight of 165lb (11st 8lb). She shed most of the excess in 2020, calling it her 'year of health,' and putting it down to healthy eating and exercise.

However, while promoting her memoir, Rebel Rising, she admitted to using Ozempic briefly after she had lost weight, to help maintain her new shape.

Talk show host Oprah Winfrey, 70, admitted to using 'weight loss medication' in December.

At the time, she told People magazine: 'The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I'm done with the shaming.'

More recently, Lizzo and rapper Ice Spice have been rumored to be on Ozempic after showcasing radical weight loss transformations.

Lizzo — who champions body positivity — may have fallen for the weight-loss drug, fans suggested, after a photo showed her looking slimmed down on vacation in Bali, Indonesia.

Gen Z sensation Ice Spice, known for her voluptuous curves, has also been sporting a much more svelte physique in recent months — similarly prompting rumors that she may have turned to the weight loss wonder drug.
