Vegan event is branded as the new 'Fyre Festival' with attendees revealing how they were forced to wait HOURS in the hot sun with no shade or water

A festival dedicated to vegans has been declared the 'Fyre Festival' of plant-based treats - after attendees claimed the event consisted of long queues, insufficient staff, and lack of water and shade.

Vegandale, which was held on September 14 at Citi Field in Queens, New York, attracted thousands of eager vegans, who descended on the stadium, excited to check out the 200-plus vegan vendors and musical performances.

However, the festival struggled to keep up with the immense crowds, leaving ticketholders fuming after they were forced to wait in line for hours in the heat and struggled to find shade or water.

The disorganization of the event drew comparisons to the 2017 Fyre Festival, which promised its guests a weekend filled with luxury but ended with attendees being stranded on an island with no running water, hardly any food, and a mattress in a tent as the only place for them to sleep.

While promotional material for the Vegandale festival showed hordes of happy patrons enjoying delectable vegan bites, the reality was very different.

Afterwards, furious festivalgoers took to social media to share their irate response to the less-than-impressive event.

People branded the festival, which featured performances from GoRilla, Polo G and Kidi, as a 'huge mess' and 'a massive clusterf**k.'

'Tried to go to #Vegandale. It’s a huge mess. Hours-long lines just to get in. People are giving up. We are giving up. We want a refund,'  one user wrote in a post shared to X, previously known as Twitter.

'Vegandale was so poorly run and no one is talking about how someone PASSED OUT in line today and we were yelling for medics,' another claimed.

'Had everyone waiting in the heat for two hours and none of the vendors were allowed to sell water be so serious.'

'Vegandale is a massive clusterf**k,' declared another attendee. '$30 for parking, no organization or structure for lines, thousands of people everywhere, all to get to one little bottleneck entrance.

'Ended up leaving after two hours and nowhere near the front.'

'If you are headed to #Vegandale don't bother,' someone else urged. 'It's a disorganized chaotic mess.

'No staff is present. Several lines consisting of thousands of angry people waiting ... you will wait for hours.'

Ticket holders who had attended the same festival in Chicago in July had similar complaints, warning anyone going in the future to read reviews carefully.

'The event in Chicago was a disaster. Lot of people were posting about it but I guess few were looking for reviews before buying tickets,' one festivalgoer noted.

'Oversold festival, lax security, nonchalant or nonexistent customer service. VIP had no security checkpoint and was over capacity,' another post from the Chicago leg of the festival said.

'Please look into this for [New York City]. It was unsafe and poorly planned also,' the user added.

And it wasn't only the attendees who were left dissatisfied, someone revealed in a Reddit thread about it that many vendors didn't want to return in 2025.

'Tons of vegan companies aren’t coming back this year because Vegandale is demanding 30 per cent of their sales, on top of charging them for a booth,' one user claimed.

'Genuinely this was so fun,' one content creator wrote, along with a video showing the food stalls.

The Vegandale Instagram page appears to have disabled comments on its posts.

According to the website, the festival is also going to be held in Philadelphia, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, Toronto, London and Manchester.

The first Vegandale festival was held in Toronto in 2015 with the goal of showcasing 'the moral imperative of a world free from animal exploitation,' as per the website.

It's since expanded all around the world; prices ranged from $15 for general admission to $90 for V.I.P. access.
