Why MAGA Swifties are convinced Taylor is a secret Trump fan

Taylor Swift's ardent fans have been left divided after the popstar was photographed hugging Donald Trump supporter and close friend Brittany Mahomes at the US Open. 

Swift, who had famously endorsed President Joe Biden in the 2020 election, has not yet declared whom she is backing this year - Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Trump, 78.

The 34-year-old singer has publicly condemned Trump in the past - which left many  questioning if she would distance herself from Mahomes, who was recently given a shoutout by the Republican presidential candidate for her apparent support.

However, the BFFs put any talk of a feud to bed when they were seen embracing alongside their partners at the US Open final.

Many Democrat Swifties have since been left wondering whether their idolized star is now a Trump supporter - with some MAGA fans already believing so. 

Amber, a MAGA TikToker, recently took to the video-sharing app to share her delight over Mahomes' recent support. 

The influencer wrote, 'MAGA SWIFTIES STOKED MAHOMES CLAPPED BACK' while singing along to an edited version of Swift's song '22' - referring to when the football star's wife re-posted a comment from preacher Shane Pruitt that appeared to be a response against backlash against her.

'Contrary to the tone of the world today…' the post began. 'You can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind.'

Amber also captioned the video, 'Love that Taylor is surrounded by MAGA Swifties and MAGA supporters! Remember we do not know her political views this election.'

Another MAGA Swiftie, who is a Palm Beach realtor but goes by the user name Conservaswifties on TikTok, also took to the platform to amplify Mahomes' message of being friends with people with different political views. 

'Wondering what all the blue Swifties who said Taylor would hate her fans for voting for Trump, yet Taylor and Brittany Mahomes' friendship is strong despite Brittany being Conservative and supporting Trump,' she said. 'I wish I could see your faces.'

But while many MAGA Swifties are rejoicing over the popstar continuing to be friends with Mahomes - despite famously claiming that she wanted to be on the 'right side of history' in her documentary, Miss Americana - her Democratic Party supporters have been left aghast. 

'Not a word about Palestine. not a word about Trump using your face to promote him. not a word about LGBTQ+ laws over the last few years, or anything happening in your home state. besties with a SA apologist & an endorsed trump supporter,' a X user wrote. 

While another added: 'The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now…why?…oh, cuz she’s hanging out with Brittany Mahomes.'

'Activist until you value your boyfriend’s coworker’s wife over your fans rights apparently,' one also chimed. 

Multiple fans have shared their belief that Joe Alwyn, Swift's previous boyfriend, was the reason why she was a Democrat supporter. 

The outrage comes days after Swift hit back at Trump's apparent acceptance of her 'support' in his race for the White House, with insiders claiming she believes the Republican has 'lost it'.

The presidential candidate shared AI-generated posts on his social media platform Truth Social suggesting he has gained the support of the Grammy-winner and her fans. 

Trump wrote 'I accept' alongside deepfake images showing women wearing shirts emblazoned with 'Swifties For Trump,' as well as a poster of the singer dressed like Uncle Sam and urging her fans to vote for the GOP nominee.

Although she has yet to publicly endorse a candidate ahead of this year's election, a source close to Swift confirmed, unsurprisingly, that she will not be supporting Trump.

'If she didn't support him last time, she's not going to support him now,' they told DailyMail.com exclusively. 'He's clearly lost it. In more ways than one.'
