Willow Smith has revealed that she loves her parents 'to death' after overcoming years of 'friction' while she was growing up, as she posed for an eye-catching new shoot with Dazed Magazine.

The former teen star, 23, has reinvented her image in recent years, and in the new interview, shared that she's been able to patch up her bond with mother Jada and father Will, after realising they're just as 'afraid and confused' as she is.

Willow also stripped naked for one eye-popping image during the shoot, as she told the publication: 'I was born into a family who does entertainment.

'I could have chosen to not put myself in front of the world... but I think there are a lot of things that need to be expressed and a lot of issues that need to be raised.'

Willow admitted that while her parents were at the helm if her career during her younger years, she struggled with anxiety attacks, leading her to rebel in ways such as shaving her head.

Posing for an array of eye-catching images, Willow told the publication: 'I was born into a family who does entertainment'

At the time, Willow lashed out at her father when she told him she wanted to pull out of her gig as a supporting artist on Justin Bieber's tour, and when he didn't take her seriously, she decided to shave her head.

But in recent years, Willow said her relationship with her parents is better than ever, saying: 'I think when you're growing up, it's natural to have that friction with your parents, and I think everyone goes through that..

'But when it really changed for me was realising that my parents are human beings, just like me, and they're afraid and confused, and sometimes they don't know the answers.'

'I just love my parents to death. I would do anything for them.'

Willow has previously spoke about her struggles with self-harm during her younger years, and went onto explain that it 'was a way for her to let those emotions come out in a way where I wasn’t opening herself up to judgment.'

Willow also reflected on the backlash she faced in 2014, when she expressed interests in quantum physics and the Indian philosopher Osho, as well as identifying herself as an 'indigo child.'

Shrugging, she added: 'Conscious young Black kids are a ''cool'' thing now, but I feel like, back then, they weren't.

'I don't know what people thought, it's not really my concern. I do think it was a little bit mocked, maybe a lot mocked, but it was still the truth. The truth is still the truth, even if nobody believes it.'

As well as releasing a spritual new album, titled Empathogen, Willow's company MSFTS has also bought the film rights to Alwyn Hamilton's trilogy Rebel of the Sands.

Asked how she envisages her future, she said: ''I want to be someone who creates a loving community. I want to be someone who supports and uplifts those who are doing the work. And I want to create systems and structures to enhance the lives of people.'

'I could have chosen to not put myself in front of the world... but I think there are a lot of things that need to be expressed and a lot of issues that need to be raised,' she added
