Woman turns everyday pantry item into cutesy Halloween decor - but not everyone's happy about it

Social media users praised an arts and crafts enthusiast for her pumpkin-themed Halloween craft, but Instagrammers are concerned about the price. 

An unidentified Hip2Save content creator advised Instagram and TikTok users not to throw away Tide pod containers in a video tutorial on August 14.

However, what was meant to be a 'spooktacular DIY Halloween decoration' - albeit in the middle of summer - is a craft that some Instagrammers claim is actually way more expensive than it looks. 

'The actual pumpkin container is $3 at most. But those Tide Pods are at least $25,' an Instagram user claimed yesterday.

Others commented on how many Tide Pods containers would be needed to make a display like the one the creator showed.

The Hip2Save content creator showed social media users how to create these Tide Pod jack-o-lanterns with less than five materials, including the containers.

She first took the empty containers and soaked them in hot water so the tags could come off.

Once she peeled the stickers off, the Hip2Save, the Halloween enthusiast, took one of the containers and created the face of a jack-o-lantern with a Sharpie.

Anyone who is not looking to make their jack-o-lantern's faces with a permanent marker can also use adhesive craft vinyl -  a glue-backed vinyl that can be used on smooth surfaces.

After the faces are created, all someone would need to do is purchase a battery-operated light and put them inside the containers.

The light will shine through the containers, creating an adorable and environmentally friendly jack-o-lantern.

While not everyone is keep to bypass summer to leap into fall activities, Halloween crafts have become more popular than usual this time of year thanks in part to trends like Summerween and Pinkoween.

Summerween and Pinkoween grew into popular social media trends this summer after retailer chains started offering them to its customers early.

'I love the idea of taking traditionally spooky elements like skulls, bats, and ghosts and switching them up with pink hues,' HomeGoods ambassador Keiko Lynn told USA Today.

Lynn, who is also a social media influencer, even posted a tutorial on how to make a 'secret witch hat' with pink and green material a month before Halloween last year

The arts and crafts enthusiast joined in on the pinkoween fun last year after creating a tutorial on how to make a 'secret witch hat.'

Various X users have not embraced the idea of an extremely early Halloween despite the creative crafts being made by content creators.

'Is it just me or is everyone putting out fall and halloween stuff even earlier this year,' tweeted an X user last month.

'I work at a craft store so I’m used to getting seasonal stuff a season ahead - but everyone’s putting it out now... It feels early.'

Another person tweeted: 'I went into Michael’s today, and the entire front of the Store was in full Halloween mode.'

'I don’t mind a little early, but this seems excessive. Now pink Halloween decorations? Okay.'
