Wyoming's state treasurer received a standing ovation after telling governor Mark Gordon that 'he's done taking his s**t' during a GOP meeting.

Treasurer Curt Meier went on a passionate tirade against the Republican governor during Saturday's Wyoming Republican Party Central Committee in Douglas.

'He just blindsided me yesterday,' Meier said about Gordon, as reported by Cowboy State Daily.

'He’s not going to work with me, he’s not going to work with [Wyoming Secretary of State] Chuck [Gray], he’s just worried about himself....

'I know this is probably going to cut my throat in this budget but I'm tired of taking his s**t... excuse my language. I just am.'

Meier was reportedly frustrated after the governor's office rejected a proposal that would have given the treasurer's office more control the state's investments, including the hiring of managers.

In his speech, the treasurer said he had kept his disdain for the governor 'secret' for six years before airing out his grievances.

He went on to list a series of alleged offenses by the governor, claiming Gordon tried to 'make the treasurer's job a ceremonial office.'

'If I hadn't had friends in the [state] senate from when I was a senator for 24 years, I'd have absolutely nothing to do,' Meier said.

Meier also talked about 'a problem in our constitution' that allows 'the power-hungry people that run for governor to decide that they control all the elected officials, by the budget or however.'

'It’s not about power of the office or power of the person, it’s about having power to the people,' Meier added in his address to the GOP meeting.

Going further, he said: '[Governors] like power. They don't understand that they shouldn't be looking for the power. They should be empower the people.'

Gordon's office told CSD he was concerned the measure would 'put a lot of authority in one person.'

The governor said that his concerns were not about Meier but about the potential for immoral future holders of the treasurer's office.

Gordon won a second term as governor in 2022 after being elected in 2018. He previously served as treasurer.

Meanwhile Meier was sworn in as the 31st Treasurer of the State of Wyoming on January 7th, 2019.

According to his website, Meier 'is also a successful businessman, operating a farm and ranch in his hometown of La Grange, and formerly owned and operated an irrigation business.'
