Vincent Kompany has agreed a deal in principle to replace Thomas Tuchel as Bayern Munich manager, according to multiple reports.

The German manager is leaving the Allianz Arena this summer after talks to keep him on broke down - and the Belgian has been widely rumoured to be on the club's list of potential replacements, despite relegation with Premier League Burnley

Bayern Munich were rejected by several of their proposed options for the managerial role, including Xabi AlonsoJulian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick.

But it is widely reported that Kompany, 38, has agreed to take charge of the German giants from next season, in a three-year deal.

Bayern are set to pay Burnley £10.2m in compensation for Kompany's services, with Floribert Ngalula and Bram Geers forming part of the Belgian's backroom staff.

The German giants are seeking a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, who is leaving the club

However, Craig Bellamy, the Belgian's No. 2 at Burnley, will not follow him to his new job in Germany.

Burnley recorded just five victories all season, despite spending in excess of £90million last summer.

But Kompany spent two seasons at Hamburg before joining Man City in 2008, speaks fluent German, and has impressed the Bayern hierarchy with his football philosophy.

The 38-year-old built a decent reputation as a manager at Anderlecht after becoming head coach in 2020, following a spell as player-manager, before moving to Turf Moor and winning the Championship with Burnley in 2023.

Bayern Munich finished third in the Bundesliga this season under Tuchel, behind title winners Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart, while their Champions League campaign ended at the semi-final stage.

Tuchel's contract was terminated, but he is now a leading candidate for the Man United job

Bayern terminated Tuchel's contract as manager earlier in the year, although they later opened negotiations to try and retain his services, which failed to reach a deal.

Tuchel is now a leading candidate for the Manchester United job, with Erik ten Hag looking likely to exit after Saturday's FA Cup final at Wembley.
