Virgil van Dijk has urged his Liverpool team-mates to put their Europa League woes behind them and focus on the challenge to come.

Liverpool face Fulham on Sunday and have little time to dwell on their anguish, with 'six cups finals' ahead of them as Gary McAllister put it.

The Reds beat Atalanta 1-0 on Thursday night but it wasn't enough to overturn their 3-0 deficit after a horrific performance at Anfield last week in the first leg.

''We have to very quickly turn this around, recover, and travel to London on Saturday,' Van Dijk told TNT Sports.

'What we have to do is get back up. We’ve been through difficult moments together. Showing maturity, showing togetherness is the key to this, and professionalism to get ready for Sunday as that will also be a tough game.

Virgil van Dijk insisted Liverpool must move on quickly from their Europa League heartbreak

'We all have a responsibility to be ready for it physically and mentally.

'We are disappointed to be out of the competition as we really wanted to win it.'

'We won tonight and we kept a clean sheet, so there are so many more positives we can take. Yes, it is a bad feeling to be out so we have to get back up.

'We need everyone now for the last push in the league. Hopefully our fans will be there because we need them now more than ever because anything is still possible.'
