After a violent incident on Tuesday night, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green should be expecting for the proverbial hammer to drop down when he faces the league.

Green slapped Phoenix Suns forward Jusuf Nurkic in the face during a game and it's only a matter of time before he faces further punishment.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors are expecting Green to be suspended in the coming days.

'The question is how long will he be suspended for?,' Wojnarowski explained on NBA Today.

'He's coming off a recent five game suspension and now the question for the league is are they comparing what happened last night against Phoenix... to the act with Rudy Gobert? Or are they just looking at, again, another repeat offense.

'And that's a big part of how the league determines penalties - are repeat offenses.

'Draymond Green certainly leads the league in those, leads this era in those, and I think for the Warriors, I think they are certainly bracing for the fact that they're going to be without [him] again and certainly maybe for an extended period - twice now in a very short period.'

Speaking after his latest ejection on Tuesday night, coach Kerr said: 'We need Draymond. He knows that. We've talked to him.

'He's got to find a way to keep his poise and be out there for his teammates.'

Asked what can be done to improve Green's discipline, Kerr added: 'We'll keep working.'

Then questioned whether or not he's becoming a hinderance, he said: 'Draymond is still one hell of a player. Still a really good player and we need him.

'If we're going to be a really good team then we need him.'

Green tried to sell the story that he 'didn't intend to hit him', adding, 'I sell calls with my arms, so I was just selling the call because he was grabbing me and pulling my hip.

Green was given a five game suspension for putting Rudy Gobert in a chokehold last month

It will be the second time this season that Green has been suspended after he put Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert in a chokehold during a game. He sat five games after the league found he committed multiple offenses.

Green was also suspended twice in the season prior - including during the playoffs.

There, he stomped on Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis during a first-round playoff contest.

Last year, Green was also suspended after a physical altercation with then-teammate Jordan Poole.
