The 25-year-old - who has spent his entire career at Liverpool - has been linked with the Spanish giants in the past, but a deal never materialised.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was in tears in front of Liverpool fans on the final day of the season
Alexander-Arnold was himself emotional on the final day of the Premier League season against Wolves in May as Jurgen Klopp bowed out.
He was in tears as the German manager made his way out for tributes, with fans singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.
However, looking back it could have been due to the fact that it was his last dance in front of the Liverpool crowd ahead of a potential move to Real.
A move to the Spanish capital would see Alexander-Arnold reunite with Jude Bellingham after their bromance blossomed during Euro 2024.
The pair - who have both been linked with model girlfriends, with Bellingham reportedly linked with 25-year-old Dutch influencer Laura Celia Valk, while Alexander-Arnold is dating British actor Jude Law's daughter, Iris, 23 - were inseparable at the Euros and their connection grew stronger on the pitch.
They started together in England's midfield for their opening game of Euro 2024 against Serbia, and Bellingham proved to be the star of the show as he netted the only goal to hand his side all three points.
After nodding home Bukayo Saka's cross from close range, Bellingham, 20, peeled away and celebrated with his team-mates.

But as the rest of the players jogged back for the restart, Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold stayed behind to unveil their new joint-celebration.
Both men got down on one knee as they covered their faces with their hand. Bellingham later explained that is was a reference to the game of Wolf - or Werewolf as it is also known – a popular pastime within the England squad.
It is a card game that requires deceit and strategic thinking and is based on a roleplay game centred on deduction called Mafia created by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986, and is believed to have had a hand in inspiring the hit BBC One show The Traitors.
As reported by The Athletic earlier this week, beyond Alexander-Arnold, Bellingham does not have any deep connections with his England team-mates.
As it stands, Alexander-Arnold has made 310 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 19 goals in all competition for the Reds.
He also also won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup twice with the Merseyside club.
