Watch the shocking moment when UFC star Sean Strickland holds a trespasser at gunpoint after spotting him hiding on his property, as he later revealed that the man was 'beating up a girl and fled drunk from security' before 'wrecking his car' near his driveway.

Not shy of controversy, the UFC middleweight reigning champion shared footage of the incident on social media with a brief explanation of what happened, hours after it first went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.

'Here's what I know...' the 32-year-old Strickland wrote to start off the caption of his post on Instagram.

'The guy was drunk stomping out a girl, a security guard seen it, he jumped in his car and drove off. Security followed him, hit a curb, completely shredded his tire, drove on the rim for a while then jumped out and tried to hide at my house.

'I initially though he was stealing my car... He was arrested.'

Strickland, 32, won the UFC middleweight championship fight against Israel Adesanya in Sept.

Strickland, who previously made headlines for all but good reasons, like chasing a man with a flamethrower, caught the trespasser hiding in between two cars parked in his driveway before pointing a gun to his head, as shown by a camera attached to his Ring doorbell.

He then appeared to have knocked out the the trespasser while cops arrived, and before speaking to an individual wearing an orange shirt.

Earlier on in the video, the UFC fighter can be seen leaving his home, looking tense, while holding a gun, as he geared up to meet up with the individual.

It's been believed that the man initially fled onto Strickland's property to avoid cops, as flashing sirens can be seen on the street of the UFC's fighter's house.

Strickland initially shared the footage on his account on X on Monday, while claiming that he thought the man either 'stealing my car or trying to break in...'

'What would you of done?' he added.

In September, the American stunned Israel Adesanya to win the middleweight title at UFC 293.

Strickland (28-5), who caused a stir in the lead-up to the highly-anticipated fight with sexist and misogynistic comments at a press conference promoting the bout, won a five-round decision with all three judges scoring it 49-46.

'Am I dreaming? Am I going to wake up? Someone hit me. ... I don't cry much but I'm trying to keep it together right now,' he said immediately after the bout while looking emotional.

'I give up so many brain cells to the MMA gods... I thought I'd be walking away a little bloody, a little broken up. I'm a little shocked that didn't happen.'

His next fight will be against Dricus Du Plessis (20-2) at UFC 297 on January 20.
