A teen has been rushed to hospital with leg injuries after he was attacked by a shark.

He was bitten at West Beach near Adelaide in South Australia at 1.40pm on Sunday.

SA Ambulance paramedics treated the 16-year-old boy at the scene.

It is understood the boy has been taken to hospital in a stable condition.
