Wests Tigers star Adam Doueihi won't face any further disciplinary action from his club or the NRL over his controversial social media comment relating to LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport.

The Tigers issued the 25-year-old playmaker with a 'please-explain' after he called an Instagram post explaining to fans 'How to speak about LGBTQ+ inclusion' 'embarrassing'.

But the Tigers five-eighth denied he had intended to belittle the LGBTQI community with his since-deleted comment.

The upload came as part of Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign, through which the Premier League promotes LGBTQI inclusion with a variety of initiatives between December 2 and 7.

Doueihi commented 'embarrassing post' under the upload, which featured prompts for discussing LGBTQI inclusion.

He later deleted the comment, but not before it had garnered more than 9000 likes.

Doueihi told the club he perceived the post to be dictating what people could say to the LGBTQI community, which he found 'embarrassing'.

He said he deleted his comment after realising it could have been misconstrued as homophobic.

On Tuesday, an official from the Tigers told News Corp that Doueihi feels remorse over the way his comment was perceived.

'It wasn't Adam's intention to hurt anyone,' they said. 'We've spoken to him and no further action will be taken.

'The club is committed to being an inclusive place for all, we welcome people of all parts of society to be part of our club.

'Our mission statement as a club is to enrich the lives of community and that we are all inclusive.'

The NRL integrity unit has not been involved in the matter.

Doueihi has since deleted the post and says he had not he had intended to belittle the LGBTQI community. The Tigers say it was not the player's intention to hurt anyone

In October, Doueihi voiced his support for a Sydney Catholic girls' school's decision to block students from bringing female dates to their Year 12 formal.

Doueihi was raised and identifies as a Christian.

The playmaker is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in April, but last month coach Benji Marshall said he could feature at some point in the 2024 season
