A major shopping centre in Sydney's west has been evacuated due to a fire disrupting thousands of shoppers.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said four trucks attended the Penrith Westfield about 1.20pm on Sunday after a fire broke out at a food court inside the popular shopping destination.
It is understood as many as 3000 people were evacuated as firefighters attempted to manage the blaze.
One person is reportedly being treated by ambulance for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
FRNSW said none fire trucks and 28 firefighters had attended the scene.
