A massive house explosion has rocked a western Sydney suburb, with reports six people have been injured and one person is unaccounted for.
The blast occurred on the second level of a townhouse in Whalan in Sydney's west, with Fire and Rescue NSW called to Waikanda Crescent just before 1pm.
Emergency services responded to a call about an explosion in a unit.
The call said windows were smashed and people could be heard screaming.
A spokesperson for Fire and Rescue NSW told Daily Mail Australia that one person remains unaccounted for and residents from at least 12 surrounding houses have been evacuated.
Two of the injured were transported to Mt Druitt Hospital for treatment.
Fire and Rescue, ambulances, police, gas and energy personnel are on the scene.

Whalan resident Kathleen Morris said the sound of the explosion was massive.
'I heard a big bang and the whole house shook, everybody came out of their house, wondering what had happened,' she said.
