Australian martial arts great Craig Jones has announced his new invitational Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament by dumping a million dollars onto Joe Rogan's desk during a live podcast.

Jones, one of the most popular grapplers on the planet, appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show podcast on Wednesday and spoke about how he will be shaking up the martial arts world with a game-changing new tournament.

The Aussie black belt will be launching his own tournament called the Craig Jones Invitational, which will give away a massive million dollars in prize money to winners and pay fighters $10,000 just to compete.

Jones emphasised his point by bringing the cash onto the world famous podcast and dumping the money into a pile on Joe's desk.

Aussie grappling ace Craig Jones is offering a $1 million grand prize in his new tournament

It stunned the UFC commentator, who admitted he'd never seen so much money.

'I've never seen a million dollars in one place! I've never even seen a million-dollar check,' he said.

'Ladies and gentlemen, that is one million dollars in cash. That is so ridiculous. Look at that, that is so crazy.

'Wow. Whoever is running this really trusts you.'

Jones, who is known for his easy-going attitude and dry sense of humour, explained that he brought the cash with him onto the show so that people know he isn't joking about the huge prize money on offer.

The Aussie is hoping his grappling tournament can both elevate the sport and compensate athletes in a way that has never been done before.

He has already persuaded some of the biggest names in the sport to attend the event and hinted that there are several others that he is yet to announce.

Jones also revealed that he will take on female grappling superstar Gabi Garcia in  'the biggest super-fight in grappling history'.

Jones, one of the top grapplers in the world, wants to pay top competitors more - and appears to have the financial backing to make it happen

'Now we're talking the most decorated female athlete of all time, Gabi Garcia, has put pen to paper to face me on my own event,' Jones said.

Rogan explained that Jones has been joking about the match for a long time and wondered if it was really going to happen.

'One hundred per cent gonna happen,' confirmed Jones.

'We booked it, we signed this contract earlier. So like, I mean, I had to do a lot of things to get it done, you know?'
