William Gallas believes Chelsea could benefit from signing two Manchester United players this summer.

The Blues have endured another disappointing campaign which sees them sat ninth in the Premier League and in danger of missing out on European football for the second straight year.

Chelsea have not been afraid to splash the cash, spending over £1bn since Todd Boehly took charge in 2022, and have largely focused on bringing in young players who can develop at Stamford Bridge.

But Gallas wants his old side to bring in two more experienced stars in the shape of Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford from United to bolster the Blues' squad.

'Both Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes could be good options for Chelsea. Both are quality players,' he told Gambling Zone.

'Chelsea are a team of young players and Bruno Fernandes has the leadership qualities to get through certain periods.'

Fernandes and Rashford both have long-term contracts at Old Trafford, but have failed to hit the heights of previous years, with Erik ten Hag's team sixth in the table and looking unlikely to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Yet Gallas still thinks they could make an impact at Chelsea, with Fernandes having captained United since the start of the season, while there have also been calls for Rashford to seek a fresh start, including from Mail Sport columnist Simon Jordan.

Chelsea have largely been led by Conor Gallagher this season in the absence of the injured Reece James.

Reports have emerged that the west London outfit are open to selling both homegrown talents this summer to ensure they comply with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

He has also urged his former club not to sell midfielder Conor Gallagher

Gallas has urged Chelsea to keep James and Gallagher, though, insisting their connection with the club makes them vital members of the squad moving forward.

'Chelsea won’t sell Reece James, you have to keep players who have come through the academy and you need players with that identity,' he added.

'He is the captain, but unfortunately, he is often injured – despite this, we should keep him. It’s the same for Connor Gallagher, they both have to stay.

‘I know that there are problems with the finances at the moment, but they have to sell another player to fix this.’
