The North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal was called to a halt on Saturday afternoon after a fan took ill in the stands at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Stewards were called to attend to a supporter seated in the away stands in the 80th minute.

Arsenal's medical team helped attend to the supporter, with fans seeming to spot a defibrilator being carried across the pitch as the team made their way to the stand.

The pause in play saw an extra 11 minutes added to the tie after normal time.

When play resumed, the home side won the clash 1-0 courtesy of a 58th-minute goal from Martha Thomas to mark the first time in the two sides' history that Tottenham have beaten their north London rivals.

Tottenham went on to win the home clash making history with a debut WSL win versus Arsenal

The Gunners have never lost a meeting with their north London rivals, but fell 1-0 away

Scorer Thomas was a deadline-day recruit drafted in to replace much-missed Bethany England as she continues to recover from hip surgery, and the player has found the back of the net seven times in 10 games, making her the WSL's joint top scorer.

Gunners star Vivianne Miedema came on to win her 100th WSL appearance as she gears up her return from a knee injury that ravaged the sharpshooter's 2022-23.

It was the first time the Dutch international lined up alongside both Beth Mead and Alessia Russo in what is likely Jonas Eidevall's preferred front three, the latter arriving this summer.

Arsenal have a titanic record in their meetings, having won 11 of their 14 match-ups.

But Tottenham - who sit sixth in the table - are in impressive form under new coach Robert Vilahamn following a season that saw them threatened with relegation in the first-half of their 2022-23 campaign.

Eidevall's side were unable to build upon 4-1 victory against table-topping rivals Chelsea at the Emirates a week later, and could see themselves drop to third if Manchester City beat Everton at Walton Hall Park on Sunday.
