The WWE has revealed its plans for Patrick Mahomes after choosing to scrap a major RAW angle at the last minute due to the crowd's strong response when the Chiefs quarterback was introduced to fans on Monday night.

Barely a day ago, Mahomes was spotted ringside along with Chiefs teammates Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith at the wrestling promotion's Draft Night event in Kansas City, as he was seen arriving at T-Mobile Center just hours earlier with US Champion, Logan Paul

The alliance seemed questionable from the start as Paul is a heel and Mahomes was always going to get a hero babyface welcome from inhabitants of the city where he's won three Super Bowl rings within the last five years.

That was evidently shown later in the night when Paul was jeered by the Kansas City crowd when introduced by ring announcer Samantha Irvin, while Mahomes received  standing ovation.

Discussing the series of events that took place on Wrestling Observer Radio, popular WWE & MMA reporter Dave Meltzer revealed that Mahomes attending the show was not a booking by the promotion. Rather, it was Prime drinks - one of Mahomes' many sponsors - that had asked the 28-year-old NFL player to show up.

The three-time Super Bowl champion was booked by one of his sponsors - Prime drink, which is owned by WWE US Champion, Logan Paul (L)

'He [Mahomes] is the biggest star in that city as a babyface and he's coming out with heels. Some people were bringing up this makes no sense because, Patrick Mahomes was a total heel on the show. And even though he's a babyface, the reason behind it was because WWE did not book this segment,' Meltzer said.

'It was a sponsored segment, that's why Patrick Mahomes was there because Patrick Mahomes is part of the Prime energy drink that Logan Paul is also a part of,' he continued. 'So they basically sponsored the segment and they wanted Logan Paul and Patrick Mahomes to work together in an angle.

'That's why everyone's going ''Why would Patrick Mahomes be booked as a heel in Kansas City? WWE is so incredibly stupid.'' But in fact, it was not WWE that was stupid, it was something that the sponsors basically put together,' Meltzer added.

Mahomes - a heel - was supposed to fight babyface Braun Strowman but couldn't due to the Kansas City crowd's strong reaction when he was introduced at T-Mobile Center

At one point, on Monday night, babyface Braun Strowman marked his return to the ring after nearly a year away and stared down Mahomes.

But, before a brawl ensued, Jey Uso ushered Strowman away from the Chiefs QB.

Bringing up what should've happened, Meltzer shared that Strowman was supposed to attack Mahomes but that the QB heel received such a passionate reaction from the crowd that it would have ultimately backfired.

'So the idea is that Braun was going to attack Mahomes, which would have turn him hell instantly, but Jey pulled them away because they had no way out of the segment.'
