A confrontation between a cyclist and a BMW owner in a driveway ended up surprisingly intense, as they debated who had the right of way.

Bike lanes have increased in cities and towns across America and the world in recent years and with them, regulations stating where they ought to be, often leading to testy moments between cyclists and drivers.

In a viral video posted Thursday with the caption 'Cyclists are some of the most entitled people on the planet' a bike rider is beside themselves as they confront the vehicle stopped in its driveway as they attempt to pass through.

'Nice, super nice,' the cyclist says, sarcastically as the BMW owner looks bemused and can be heard asking what the issue is.

As the cyclist starts to round his car without any real issue, they become irate, saying: 'You're literally blocking the bike lane! What do you mean, what?'

The driver, clearly appreciating the strange situation he's found himself in, says that he's picking someone up to attempt to satiate the rider.

'You still can't do that, here,' the cyclist responds, somewhat unsure of themsevles.

'What do you mean? It's a sidewalk,' he sasses back.

'No, it's a bike lane and a sidewalk is not for cars,' the irate cyclist claims, which now finally starts to put the driver on edge.

He responds with a smile: 'You're outta' your mind! You think I'm being a maniacal maniac?'

The biker doesn't outright call him a maniacal maniac, but says 'yeah, I'm just saying you're ignoring other people.'

'I'm literally just picking somebody up, we're in a quiet little street!'

The driver finally appears to be done with this after the cyclist again claims that he shouldn't be there.

'Oh, you're outta' your mind, have a good life.'

Finally, agreement is found as the cyclist replies: 'You too!'

The driver can be heard muttering he's 'sure people love you' to the cyclist as he rides away.

So who is in the right?

Bike lane laws are very different across the country. In New York City and New York State, cars are only allowed to block bike lanes to enter or leave a driveway, according to the city's department of transportation

In California, however, laws state cyclists are warned to 'be prepared to stop for vehicles waiting at stop signs, in driveways, or parking spaces, which may suddenly pull out in front of you.'

It's unclear which state this video takes place in, so the true answer can't be known who was legally correct in this viral meeting of the minds.
